KTM Komuter train fares

Kereta api Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) announces new Komuter fares from December 2 are set to rise, with the highest fare being RM7.10 for a single trip. KTMB President Lt Col (Rtd) Sarbini Tijan told that this was the first time fare revision for Komuter services since February 2003.
The rising of KTM fares to cover operating and maintenance costs that rise every year. Moreover, the drop of the ringgit with the expensive of spare parts make the cost become high.
In addition, the new structure will benefit for primary and secondary students, as well as university students are giving 50% of discounts on fares.
In my opinion, the rising of KTM Komuter train fares effect the increasingly of people's burden. This is because, cost of living who live in city increase steadily. The extra money that can save will now be used to cover the increase in public transportation fares, as travels daily on the KTM Komuter to go to the work. This show that the increasingly of monthly cost for using public transport seems like public transport in Malaysia does not help much to reduce people's burden.
